Yes. Before any recording / filming we ask the interviewee if they would feel comfortable being filmed and if they would feel comfortable that we posted this on social media or any other online platforms. For all the interviews that are public, we have gained the interviewee’s consent for both recording and publishing the video. For interview transcripts, the transcripts are the exact wording of the interviewee. We have the voice recordings and videos, but occasionally we choose NOT to include these footages to protect the interviewee’s privacy, especially when the interview concerns government affairs or censored information.

All the communities we’ve visited were very welcoming towards us. In Yunnan, the ethnic minorities are known for their kind-heartedness and their simplicity. Most of the times, reaching out requires two very simple things: awareness and action.

Bias is unavoidable, but we try our best to eliminate bias by recreating the first hand information local peoples deliver. This is why we record our conversations with the local peoples so that we can most accurately express their opinions. In general, our approach is to offer objective and fact-based evaluation of current events and challenges.
For interviews, we try to eliminate any unnecessary additions or changes to the interviewee’s original words, however, it is noteworthy that most of the interviews are conducted in Chinese and the process of translation inevitably involves the addition of certain words to ensure legibility and grammatical correctness.
